Fuji's most famous portrait shows no people at all — just a mountain, confident enough to need nothing else in the frame.
Hokusai's Red Fuji is one of only two prints in his Thirty-Six Views to show the entire mountain uncropped, built from just three colours including a newly imported Prussian blue — and the only print in the whole series with nobody standing in it. The mountain has earned that confidence honestly: in Shinto tradition it's the home of the kami Konohanasakuya-hime, and climbing it remains an act of pilgrimage.
Mountain Sun Meadow keeps that same confidence in daylight — the brightest, clearest sky in the set, crisp white cumulus banked on both sides of an unobscured snow peak, forested foothills visible to the right, a pale haze sitting low in the valley the way morning mist does before it burns off. The sun's still there, caught low beside the summit, patient the way Hiroshige's pine always was.
Where it lives: a hallway, a living room centrepiece, any wall that gets morning light.
