Pastel Abstract Countryside Wall Art Print

Van Gogh let a cypress split his last road painting in two. This one lets a single cloud take over the whole sky instead.

The hilltop road is one of Impressionism's most repeated subjects — Van Gogh built his final Saint-Rémy canvas around it, a cypress splitting the frame in short wavy brushstrokes that give it motion; Pissarro painted the same kind of climb near Pontoise and Louveciennes years earlier, working alongside Monet, Renoir and Sisley to see how the hour changed everything else.

Pastel Rural Journey pushes furthest from the figurative end of that lineage — one enormous peach-and-coral cloud swallowing most of the sky, a diagonal sweep of pink light running straight down into the fields, the composition reading almost as pure colour before it reads as landscape.

Where it lives: a living room wall that wants one bold abstracted gesture, or a space that's ready for colour to do most of the talking.
